The article Te Tiriti O Waitangi is about the history of the treaty and also about how the British came to New Zealand and tried to take over the land and how they had to sign the treaty to bring peace between them.




  1. What do you think the author’s purpose for writing this article was?


The Author's purpose was to talk about the history and what happened during that time, between the British and the Maori.

  1. When I was reading the article it said they did the treaty in one night and then I thought that maybe the person writing it got tired and maybe messed it up, So that the British could not take over all their land.

  1. The Maori made a good decision to sign the treaty to bring peace because  the Maori and the British kept having war and fighting over land. 

  1. Some Maori chiefs did not want to sign the treaty but they did so that they could bring peace and stop the war and also stop the  fighting  over who gets to keep the land.

  1. The British tried to take over New Zealand but they did not because the Maori stopped them and made them sign the treaty so that there would be no war and no fighting over land.
